Biography:

Painter and poster designer, son and disciple of the painter José Ribera Blázquez, was born in Madrid in 1907. In the paternal workshop it received the delayed influences of the romantic generation of the Madrazo, Rosales and Esquivel, among others .

Very young it enter in the Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando, where it received lessons of Moreno Carbonero, Romero de Torres and Manuel Benedito. He studied statuary with Mateo Inurria and Capuz. Later he was pensioned by the Government to form through Spain.

He participated actively in the renovation of the "cartelismo". In 1931 won the contest of posters of dance of masks of Circle of Fine Arts of Madrid, and two years later was published its poster for the International Fair of Barcelona. The year 1931 is moved to Barcelona, where he established his residence during five years, like artistic director of the company "Walter Thompson".

During the Civil War drew publicity for diverse companies and finished the conflict he initiated its educational experience, winning in 1945 the chair of "drawing of the natural one in rest" in the School of Fine Arts of Sant Jordi in Barcelona, standing out to Frederic Marés like director of the same one from 1964 to 1972.

Ribera was awarded in national contests, emphasizing the gold medal obtained in the edition of 1965, and international, being awarded with the gold medals of the exhibition of Brussels in 1965 and in the one of Paris in 1968 .

In addition to the sort of the portrait, in which it is very well-known, there is realitzat decorative compositions, naked, ceilling roses, pictures of religious thematic, posters and illustrations .

Exhibitions:

1940. First individual exhibition in the Gallery Augusta of Barcelona. From this one, it celebrated others like the one of 1941 in the Salones Macarrón in Madrid .
